Cookie policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on autofixfair.com. It forms part of our privacy policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include scripts that read information from your device. Under UK law (PECR) we can use cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you ask for without your consent; other cookies need your consent.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are set only when you sign in or use a sign-in form. They are needed for the site to work and cannot be switched off.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
next-auth.session-token | Keeps you signed in to your account | 30 days, or until you sign out |
next-auth.csrf-token | Protects the sign-in form against cross-site request forgery | Until you close your browser |
next-auth.callback-url | Remembers which page to return you to after signing in | Until you close your browser |
On the live site these names carry a __Secure- or __Host- prefix, which tells your browser to send them only over a secure connection.
3. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
Our car repair guides and MOT station directory pages load Google AdSense, Google’s advertising service. It is not loaded on account, booking, payment or garage pages. Google may set cookies or read information from your device to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud, and may use them to personalise ads. Google is responsible for these cookies; their names and lifetimes are set by Google and can change. See how Google uses cookies in advertising and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Advertising cookies are not strictly necessary and need your consent. [consent mechanism to be added: describe how visitors accept or refuse advertising cookies and how to change their choice]
4. Analytics without cookies
We measure how the site is used with PostHog and Vercel Web Analytics. Both are configured so they do not store cookies or other identifiers on your device: PostHog keeps its identifier only in the page’s memory, so it is discarded when you leave or reload, and Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless. They still receive the page address and device and browser information when you view a page. [confirm whether PECR consent is needed for this analytics]
5. Other sites
When you pay, you are taken to Stripe’s secure checkout page, which sets its own cookies under Stripe’s cookie policy. Map links open OpenStreetMap, which has its own policies. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so no font provider sees your visit.
6. Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in. You can manage ad personalisation with Google at adssettings.google.com.
