Terms of use
Last updated: 8 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses AutoFixFair. Sections marked “for drivers” apply to people booking car repairs, and sections marked “for garages” apply to garages and mobile mechanics offering their services. Please also read our privacy policy.
1. About these terms
AutoFixFair is operated by [Company legal name] (company number [Company number], registered office [Registered address]), referred to as “we” or “us”. By creating an account or using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use AutoFixFair.
2. What AutoFixFair does
AutoFixFair is an online marketplace. Drivers post repair jobs, garages and mobile mechanics send quotes, and drivers book and pay for the quote they choose. We provide the platform and take payment on the garage’s behalf through Stripe.
We do not carry out repairs. When a driver books a garage, the contract for the repair is between the driver and the garage, and the garage is responsible for the work, its quality, its price and its compliance with the law. [confirm our legal role in taking payment (for example, commercial agent of the garage)]
Vehicle details we show are looked up from DVLA and DVSA records and are provided as they are; please check them. Directory listings for businesses that have not joined AutoFixFair come from public data and may be out of date.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or over and give accurate information.
- Keep your password secure and do not share your account. Tell us at support@autofixfair.com if you think someone else has used it.
- We send service emails (such as email verification, quotes, bookings and payments) to the address on your account. These are part of the service.
4. For drivers: quotes, bookings and payment
- Posting a job and receiving quotes is free. You are not obliged to accept any quote.
- Garages that offer the service near you can see your job and vehicle make, model and year, but not your name, contact details or registration, until you have booked and paid.
- A garage may send a priced quote, or register interest before giving a price. You can only book a priced quote.
- When you accept a quote, a booking is created and you pay the full quoted amount straight away through Stripe’s secure checkout. The booking is confirmed once payment succeeds. AutoFixFair does not add a booking fee for drivers.
- Once your booking is confirmed and paid, we share your name, phone number (if we hold one), email address and vehicle registration with the garage so it can carry out the job.
- The garage marks the job as in progress and then completed. When it is completed we will ask you to leave a review.
5. For drivers: cancellations, refunds and problems with work
[cancellation and refund policy: how a driver cancels a paid booking, any cut-off, how refunds are made and who bears Stripe and commission costs. Not yet supported in the product]
The garage must carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, as described in its quote. If you have a problem with the work, contact the garage first, and tell us at support@autofixfair.com so we can help. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
6. For garages: joining and your profile
- You must be entitled to run your business and offer the services you list, hold any licences, qualifications and insurance the law requires, and comply with the law that applies to your work (including consumer protection, health and safety, and waste disposal rules).
- Your profile (business name, type, description, location or service area, services, prices and opening hours) is public. Keep it accurate and up to date.
- You may only claim a directory listing for a business you run. A claimed listing goes live only after you confirm the link we send to the listing’s published business email address, or after we review it.
- We may decide which garages are shown to drivers and in what order, and may verify the information you give us.
7. For garages: quotes and carrying out jobs
- A priced quote is your offer to do the job described for that price. If the driver books and pays, you must carry out the work as quoted, with reasonable care and skill.
- If you find the job needs more work than quoted, you must get the driver’s agreement before doing it. [confirm how extra work is priced and paid]
- Keep the booking status up to date (in progress, completed or cancelled). [rules for a garage cancelling a paid booking, including refund to the driver]
- Do not ask drivers to pay you outside AutoFixFair for work they found through AutoFixFair. [confirm whether to include this clause]
8. For garages: payments through Stripe
- To receive bookings you must complete onboarding with our payment provider, Stripe, and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Stripe verifies your identity and bank details directly.
- Drivers pay the full quoted amount when they book. Stripe transfers the payment to your Stripe account, less our commission (section 9), and pays out to your bank account on your Stripe payout schedule.
- Your quoted prices to UK drivers are the total the driver pays. You are responsible for any VAT on your prices and for your own tax affairs.
9. For garages: commission
- Our standard commission is 12.5% of the booking amount, with a minimum of £3 per booking, plus VAT at 20% on the commission.
- It is deducted automatically from the driver’s payment, as a Stripe application fee, when the driver pays. There is no subscription, setup fee or charge for receiving leads.
- [whether commission is refunded if a paid booking is cancelled or refunded]
- We will give you at least [notice period] notice before changing the commission rate.
10. For garages: the Founding Partner offer
- Founding Partner places are limited to the first 25 garages to join AutoFixFair. [confirm exactly who qualifies and how a garage is told it is a Founding Partner]
- A Founding Partner pays no commission on its first 10 completed bookings, or until the total value of commission-free bookings reaches £2,500, whichever comes first. After that, the standard commission in section 9 applies.
- While a booking is commission-free, we pay Stripe’s card processing fee.
- A booking counts towards the 10 when it is marked completed. Whether a booking is commission-free is decided when the driver pays, based on your remaining balance at that time.
- [whether and on what notice we may withdraw or change the Founding Partner offer]
11. For garages: customer data
- Platform customers. AutoFixFair shares a customer’s name, phone number (if we hold one), email address and vehicle registration with you only once that customer’s booking with you is confirmed and paid. You receive these details to carry out that job. Bookings cancelled before confirmation never share these details. [whether you may keep and use these details after the job, and for what purposes]
- Customers you add. You are the data controller for any customer and vehicle details you add to your customer list yourself (for example walk-in or regular customers). You must have a lawful basis for holding and using those details and you are responsible for how you use them, including any marketing you send. [data processing terms for records we hold on your behalf]
- Reminders. MOT and service reminder digests are sent to you only. AutoFixFair does not contact your customers on your behalf.
- You must keep customer details secure, use them only as the law allows, and help us respond to any request a customer makes about their data.
See also customer data in our privacy policy.
12. Reviews
- Only a driver whose booking has been completed can review that garage, once per booking.
- Reviews must be honest and about your own experience. Do not include personal information, offensive content or anything you do not have the right to post.
- Reviews are published on the garage’s public profile as from a “Verified AutoFixFair customer”, without your name. The garage can see your name and email next to your review and may post a public response.
- Garages must not offer incentives for reviews, post reviews of their own business or competitors, or pressure drivers about reviews.
- We may remove reviews or responses that break these terms or the law. [review moderation and dispute process]
13. Acceptable use
You must not:
- post false, misleading or fraudulent jobs, quotes, profiles or reviews;
- use another person’s account, or claim a business you do not run;
- use contact details from AutoFixFair for anything other than the job, or to send unsolicited marketing;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
- scrape, copy or bulk download the site, interfere with its security or operation, or upload malicious code;
- use AutoFixFair for anything unlawful.
14. Content, data sources and intellectual property
The AutoFixFair name, logo, site design and content belong to us or our licensors. You keep ownership of content you post (such as profile text, quotes and reviews), and you give us a licence to use, display and adapt it to run and promote AutoFixFair. [confirm scope and duration of this licence]
Our garage directory contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0 (DVSA and Companies House data) and data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Vehicle details come from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT History API.
15. Our liability
[liability terms for legal review: exclusion of liability for the garage’s work, cap on our liability (separately for drivers and garages), exclusion of indirect loss, and garage indemnity]
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
16. Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@autofixfair.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts users at risk or is used unlawfully. [notice periods and what happens to pending bookings and payouts]
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. We will change the “last updated” date and tell account holders about significant changes by email before they take effect. [notice period]
18. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and the mandatory consumer law of where you live still applies.
