How we work out these prices

We start from the national range for this job at UK independent garages, taken from our how much does a cambelt replacement cost guide, and use the band for the Volkswagen Golf's size class (family hatchback), because size, access and parts drive most of the difference between models. The Volkswagen Golf-specific figures come from our Volkswagen Golf common problems guide, which prices the faults known on this model. Your engine, gearbox, mileage and location all change the final bill, and labour rates in London and the South East are higher. These are guides, not quotes and not AutoFixFair prices: post your job to get real prices for your car.
